The therapy room

Image of Guy Suter (CPsychol)

Many people seem interested in knowing what the therapy room looks like, partly because many people know what to expect when seeing their local doctor but not what to expect from seeing a psychotherapist or psychologist. Often images of Freud's psychoanalytic therapy couch come to mind for some people, making them wonder if they will be expected to lie down or not.

To reduce such concerns, I have included some pictures of the therapy room. Although it has a normal couch in it, you will not be expected to lie down on it. Typically we will be seated in comfortable chairs to dicuss the difficulties you are facing and how to overcome them. I will have a box of tissues to hand and water on the table that you can help yourself to at any time.
